This past January 2005, The New York School celebrated its 38th anniversary by relocating from Forest Hills, Queens to its brand new location on Queens Boulevard in Long Island City.  Since opening its doors in 1967, the school has been known for its commitment to providing the highest quality of career training possible.  Now, in our new, modern and larger location we can do it even better.

New York School students agree. Says Devon Hayes, who recently completed her internship in pediatrics with a job offer, “You should see the new student lounge and library.  I started the Medical Assistant Program back at the Forest Hills location so the new location is just amazing to me and my classmates.   They even have a student kitchen and individual lockers.  All the students love it.”

The New York School created distinctive classrooms, each designed to meet a specific educational purpose.  Students spend over half their time in Skills Labs because hands-on practical learning is needed to develop the competence and confidence needed.  When students complete the in-school portion of the program and start their internships, they’re really ready for “real-life” work experiences. Please feel free to come visit our beautiful new facility.

A Significant Achievement
“A 2005 ACCSCT School of Distinction”

It is a significant achievement and one faculty and administration couldn't
be more proud of. Accredited continuously by The Accrediting Commission
of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology since 1973, the Commission,
this past March 2005 honored The New York School for Medical and Dental
Assistants, with the prestigious “2005 ACCSCT School of Distinction” award.

The ACCSCT School of Distinction Award is issued in recognition of those schools which have demonstrated a commitment to the expectations and rigors of ACCSCT accreditation, as well as a commitment to delivering quality educational programs. In a letter to the school dated March 23, 2005 Christopher Lambert of the Commission wrote: “ACCSCT appreciates the commitment you have shown to students, graduates and employers who deserve our best work. On behalf of The Commission, congratulations.”

IF YOU’VE CALLED
the school in the past and then called again more recently you’ve come to discover a new voice answering the school phone.  It’s the voice of our brand new automated phone attendant.   “You might think it a small change but it’s really not,” says Mr. Douglas Jordan, School Director. “It’s really a valuable enhancement because calls can be routed more quickly.  The biggest advantage is in the Placement Department, where graduate recruiters from medical and dental practices can request interviews with graduates when it’s timely for them, or outside of our normal hours of operation.  It means their medical and dental assistant positions can be filled faster and our graduates start working faster!”

Training Effectiveness
The National Phlebotomy Association (NPA) provides a certification examination and maintains
a Board of Registry of all those who successfully complete the phlebotomy certification
process. Certification by NPA aids in job placement and enhances the quality of phlebotomy
care to the public. Recently 86 NYSMDA students sat for the two part clinical and theory
NPA examination. All 86 students passed the exam and have earned their Certified Phlebotomy
Technician (CPT) Credential.
